PLAYING with assured confidence throughout and showing great craft, defending champions Ballygunner coasted to back to back U-21 titles at Fraher Field on Saturday last after a Conor Power goal in the 20th minute put his side into a lead that was never going to be wiped out.

Déise land second Forristal title in style

WATERFORD 2-08 KILKENNY 2-06
WHEN Waterford and Kilkenny went head to head in the Tony Forristal U-14 festival of hurling division one final back in 2005, it ended in a heartbreaking one-point defeat for the Déise but it was oh so different at Walsh Park on a sunny Sunday afternoon last.

With Gaultier causing the first upset of the quarter finals by eliminating Kilrossanty on Saturday the second battle of the championship outsiders at Fraher Field on Sunday afternoon produced an even bigger surprise as last year’s Intermediate champions Ballinameela upset the odds to eliminate unbeaten An Rinn from the title race.
